Nike One Black Golf Ball
The oversized core and ionomer inner cover, this ball is designed to go far. Each layer is designed to achieve a specigic action and, together create a complete and unified scoring advantage for Tour caliber play.
The Nike One Black is probably the most stable ball out there. I played on a day when the winds were about 20-30 mph. Yet, I was consistently able to fire away at the pins with very little deviation. These balls penetrate right through.
I was still able to hold the greens fairly well en route to a 77. Usually, a ball this firm usually gravitates towards the fringe or rough upon bouncing on the green. However, I was able to check the ball up with wedge shots -- even from the collar. In that sense, it behaved like its brother, the Nike One Platinum.
Do not play this ball if you don't know what the hell you're doing around the greens. In other words, learn how to put a little action on the ball before converting. The Nike One Black will help you with your distance and trajectory. But it can downright hurt you on your short game, again, because of its firmness.
The feel on putts was also great. I use a Scotty Cameron Newport blade putter. So using this ball with (practically) a forged putter gave me instant feedback.
Give this ball a try if you: want to lower your ball flight, need to straighten out your drives, want less spin with your wedges, and, most importantly, have the $40+ to barter with your local golf retailer.
