I have always been somewhat skeptical, given my level of play, about paying more than $20 for a dozen golf balls. Enter the HX Hot....
While playing a round with my 21 year-old stepson (I am 55) and using the HX Hot, I hit 10 out 14 fairways with an average distance of about 250 yards (shortest 230, longest 300). On the back 9, I hit 7 out of 7 fairways. I am lucky on most days to get it out to 240 at the very best, and usually hit only about 5 or 6 fairways out of 14. I'm convinced the ball flies straighter than any other ball I've used (NXT, Titleist DT SoLo, Noodle, Precept Laddie, etc.).
Using the HX Hot also, my partner hit one drive 350 yards (personal best by 15 yards), though admittedly he has a 21 year old swing speed. The best I can muster is somewhat under 90mph.
This ball looks great as well. I echo the sentiment of a previous reviewer when I say that something as silly as cosmetics makes a big difference to me. The dang thing just sits up on the tee waiting for you to knock the tar out of it. I think the confidence factor is one of the more important things to me that determines whether I have a good round or not. This ball makes me more confident off the tee.
My short game needs tons of work. But I had no real issues with the ball regarding spin or not holding the green. I actually thought it was at least the equal of the NXT on several well-struck 7 irons I hit into the green.
Golf is SUCH an individual experience. All I can tell you is that MY experience (at my level of play) with this ball demonstrated a clear and discernable improvement in distance and accuracy that I found close to amazing. All of this with no significant drop-off in around the green performance.
I don't think I'll be trying any other ball for quite a while.
